Expungement

Expungement of record: Process by which record of criminal conviction is destroyed or sealed after expiration of time. (Blacks Law Dictionary, fifth edition.)

In California, Penal Code Section 1203.4 allows a person convicted of a crime to petition the court for a dismissal of the charges, usually referred to as an “Expungement.” Before filing the petition, all of the Terms of Probation must have been complied with and completed, and the petitioner must have suffered no new convictions.

Typically, expungements are important for employment purposes, and an applicant can answer a question honestly that they have never been convicted of a crime. The team of lawyers of The Law Offices of Catherine Lombardo pride themselves on successfully helping clients get their cases dismissed, or expunged. Also, in some instances, it is possible to seal your criminal record.
